  • Guidance: a merging taper should be at least L in length (MUTCD Tables 6B-3 and 6B-4).
  • Guidance: a longitudinal buffer space may use the stopping sight distance values in Table 6B-2.
  • Guidance: neither work activity nor storage of equipment, vehicles, or material should occur within a buffer space.
  • Option: a truck-mounted attenuator may be used on the shadow vehicle.
